History

Basic Chinese Courses:

2009 academic year old domain courses (22 credits):

Basic Courses (14 credits): Freshman Chinese, Constitutional Law, History

2010 academic year (inclusive):

Basic Courses (6 credits): Freshman Chinese

2013 academic year (inclusive)

Basic Courses (12 credits): Freshman Chinese and Foreign Languages

2015 academic year (inclusive)

For students enrolled from 2015 academic year (inclusive), compulsory courses include: Freshman Chinese (6 credits in two semesters) 

(5) Aesthetics and Aesthetic Expression, (6) Technology and Society, (7) Natural Science, (8) History Analysis and Interpretation.

For students enrolled from 2015 academic year (inclusive), compulsory liberal arts course: "Introduction to Marine Science" (2 credits):

For students enrolled from 2015 academic year (inclusive), compulsory liberal arts courses include: "Introduction to Marine Science" (2 credits), which does not count toward the eight major domains of liberal arts courses. The original eight major domains of the liberal arts course include 14 credits, with no more than 4 credits in each sub-domain, resulting in a total of 16 credits (2 credits required and 14 credits elective).

Aims

The Language Education Section of GEC offers the course "Basic Course (Freshman Chinese)"

The basic language course aims to strengthen the training of students' language proficiency as a basis for further study, and to enrich the humanity competence of the students and to cultivate their temperament.

Educational Goals

1. Cultivate the students' reading and writing skills.

2. Both professional and academic language literacy.

3. To cultivate students' personality of truth, goodness, and beauty, decent temperament, and whole-person education.

Adhering to the aims of NTOU to cultivate in students marine awareness, humanistic concerns and pragmatic skills, as well as to cultivate in students the competence of literature appreciation in addition to the departmental curriculum of professional training,

 Offering the enhancement workshops of language education teachers to improve the quality of language teaching

  Arranging events and lectures to stimulate students' motivation
